How visitors can subscribe to your calendar
People who visit your published Trumba® calendar can click the Subscribe link to do the following to stay connected to your updates:
- Receive calendar events and updates by email
- Receive an RSS or Atom feed of the calendar
- Download an .ics file or subscribe to the .ics feed
Calendar events and updates sent by email
When you publish a calendar, by default, Trumba Connect creates a weekly digest email and enables the option for visitors to your calendar to add themselves to your distribution list. This enables you to increase your email audience when you don't know the addresses of everyone who is viewing your calendar.
Visitors who subscribe to your email are notified that their email address is shared with you. (Trumba doesn't share your email address with anyone.)
You can disable this option, edit your distribution list, or edit your email settings at any time.

RSS or Atom feeds of your calendar
Visitors can subscribe to your calendar feeds by using these URLs:
- RSS
http://www.trumba.com/calendars/calendarname.rss - Atom
http://www.trumba.com/calendars/calendarname.xml
Safari users can click the RSS or XML button to display the feed right in the browser.
Internet Explorer or Firefox users can copy/paste the URL into their news readers. Firefox might not be able to display Atom feeds, and it won't show you the URL. In this case, visitors can use the samples above with the appropriate calendar name.

What are RSS and Atom feeds?
RSS and Atom are types of XML code used to feed ever-changing news or other data to you. You view and subscribe to feeds from a program called an RSS or news reader or aggregator. Many readers are available free on the Web. In your reader, you can collect the feeds from the sites you're interested in, so you can keep up-to-date without having to remember where the sites are or navigate all over the Web to get the information.
All Trumba Connect published calendars include RSS and Atom feeds that anyone who views the calendar can subscribe to. Many feed readers treat the two feeds the same. However, Atom feeds use XML namespaces, which help in developing applications with web syndication feeds. How do my visitors subscribe to a feed?
Download an .ics file or subscribe to the .ics feed
In Internet Explorer or Firefox, clicking the ICAL button (
) on your calendar opens a dialog box that gives the users the option to download an .ics file of the calendar. After they download the file, they can import it into the online calendar program that they use.
In Safari, clicking the ICAL button opens iCal and gives the users the option to add your calendar to their calendar list.
If someone adds your calendar to their list in iCal, your updates will automatically appear in their subscribed views. On the contrary, .ics files that users download are no longer connected with your published calendar.
Tip Users of Mozilla Sunbird or similar calendar programs that can accept iCalendar feeds can subscribe to your calendar by entering the URL for your calendar's .ics feed in their program. The URL is similar to that of the .rss or .xml feed: http://www.trumba.com/calendars/calendarname.ics.
