Classic Table publishing template

Use when

  • You want to display a list of dates in ascending order from earliest to latest.
  • You want to display a list of dates in ascending order with the next event always at the top of the list.
  • You want to choose whether to display event notes on the calendar.
  • You're publishing a sports team's game schedule or the travel schedule for a trip you're planning.
  • You want to control which fields display in the calendar and the order in which they appear.

Don't use when

  • You want to group events that have something, like a location, in common.
  • You want to display events in descending order from latest to earliest.
  • You're publishing a performance schedule with multiple occurrences of the same event over a period of time.
  • You're publishing a conference schedule.

Description Events are displayed in table format. Each event is a row in the table. You can choose what you want the column headings to say and how many events to display per page (for example, a year's or month's worth or a specific number).

Example A schedule for the Metropolitan Opera's Saturday radio broadcasts.

Points to notice about the example:

  • This table includes event notes. If you don't include notes, calendar visitors can click the event title to see more details.
  • This publisher chose to set paging to Number of events, so only the upcoming events display, but visitors can still page backward to see what operas were broadcast earlier in the season.

Note You can get the next event to appear at the top of the table by choosing to publish only future events. However, this doesn't give visitors the option to page backwards to see your recent events.

  • If this publisher had chosen Month for paging, the December events would appear on one page, the January events on another, and so on. To move between months, viewers could click a month arrow at the top of the calendar, or they could click the month they want to view in a navigation contol that appears on the left side of the calendar underneath the mini-calendar.
