Set custom colors for published events

This topic describes how to change the colors that appear on events.

I know how to do this but I want to reset the colors back to the ones I assigned in my editing environment.

I'm looking for help on how to edit the styles for calendar views (templates).

I'm looking for help on how to edit the styles for spuds.

Publish a calendar with custom event colors

  1. Display the calendar you want to publish and click Publish.
  2. In the Publish page, define the settings you want, including selecting calendars to mix-in (you will customize colors each mix-in as well as the base calendar).
  3. Click Publish to publish the calendar and display the Publishing Control Panel.
  4. On the Publish Settings tab, click Edit Calendar Colors.
  5. On the Customize Your Calendar Colors page, enter hexadecimal values of the colors you want for the corresponding event attributes.

For help, see Enter color values below.

If you decide you want to go back to the colors you assigned in the Trumba editing environment, you can use the chart of hex values of the Trumba Connect color palette.

  6. When you're done assigning custom color values, click OK.
  7. Tip If your web pages point to a .css file for style information, set the color scheme to the default (the left-most one in the top row of the palette). Calendar spuds such as the Upcoming Events list inherit many of the styles from your .css file.

Enter color values for event attributes

In the Customize Your Calendar Colors page, the Calendar column lists the calendar you are publishing and those you selected to mix into it. In the Field column, you can assign a specific color to an event attribute by entering the color's hexadecimal value in the box.

  • Background Contains a value for the primary background color and a value for the gradient (fade) color. Learn more…
  • Text The event text, such as description, location, and so on, except where the text is a hyperlink.
  • Link Event text that contains a hyperlink.
  • Hover The color to make link text when someone hovers the mouse pointer over it.

How to change or remove the color fading effect (gradient)

By default, events use one color for the background and calculates a gradient effect based on the background color. You can specify a gradient color for the background color to fade into, you can remove the gradient effect, or you can reset the default Trumba Connect calculation.

In the Customize Your Calendar Colors section, for the Background field:

  • To set the gradient color you want, enter two different color hex values for background and fade.

  • To remove the gradient effect and have a solid color, enter the same color hex values for background and fade.

  • To reset the gradient back to the default Trumba Connect calculation, enter the hex value for the color you want for background, and for fade enter an asterisk (*).

How to find the hexadecimal value of the color you want

Deciding on a color can be difficult enough without having to know how to code its hexadecimal value. However, if you want to work with colors on the Web, you'll need to know how to find these values.

On the Web, you can find countless color charts and other resources that explain the hexadecimal system in detail. Here are some places to start:

What calendar attributes are not affected by custom color assignments

Custom color settings affect only event attributes. The calendar view attributes are determined by the color and font scheme you choose, as well as any custom style definitions. For example, in the image above, the events show the custom colors, but the column heading for the Table template shows the template color scheme.

In addition, in some templates, some event text attributes are not affected by your custom color settings and instead inherit global style settings:

  • The event description in the News template.
  • The event description and notes in the Performance template. Only the date and time take the custom settings.
  • The event description and calendar name in the 3 columns template.
