Come and enjoy cool mountain air and some spectacular views on a leisurely four mile loop hike to Mount Elijah and Bigelow Lakes on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Siskiyou Project ecologist Rich Nawa will lead hikers through flower filled meadows on the way to visit a population of the rare California Globe Mallow (Iliamna latibracteata) and learn about conservation efforts to save this beautiful plant. Hikers will also have an opportunity to see some of the area that will be included in the proposed expansion to the Oregon Caves National Monument.
This is an all-day moderate hike, with 900 foot elevation gain. Be sure to bring lunch, snacks and plenty of water.
