ASTRONOMY: Observatory-Planetarium Public Education Nights

Summary: The hour-long planetarium show begins promptly at 8 p.m. with the doors open for seating at 7:30 p.m. After the show in the planetarium, weather permitting, the public may visit the North Georgia Astronomical Observatory located off of Highway 9 on Day Drive, four miles west of Dahlonega. Appalachian Studies Center - Open House and Volunteer Day

Summary: Experience the unique charms of the historic Vickery House the first Tuesday of each month. Hear stories about Professor Vickery, tour the heirloom garden, view the center's current art exhibit, enjoy refreshments, and listen to Appalachian music. If you'd like to become an NGCSU-certified volunteer for the center, 30-minute trainings are held at 10:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. RSVP for the training by e-mailing gasc@northgeorgia.edu or calling 706-864-1540. Kaplan Graduate School Practice Exams

Summary: Practice tests offered are the GRE, MCAT, DAT, LSAT, and NCLEX. Interested students must register in room 114 of Barnes Hall no later than Sept. 24 to participate. The projected scores will be returned on Oct. 7 and will include a breakdown of where the student did well or needs improvement, as well as a link to the questions and explanations of the answers.
