Emory Total Sports Academy is offering full and half day camps for children ages 5-18
Camp Dates: May 31-June 4, June 7-June 11, June 14-June 18, August 2 -August 6
Emory Total Sports Academy is excited to offer a multi-sports camp for boys and girls ages 5-18. Emory Total Sports Academy is a non-specialized camp for children who have not made the commitment to one sport. Our goal is simply to provide our campers with comprehensive athletic skills to last a lifetime.
Emory Total Sports Academy’s primary goal is to provide our campers with a fun, and most importantly, a safe environment. Each day will include specialized instruction in tennis, basketball, soccer, volleyball, agilities and motor skills. Campers will participate in individual and group drills as well as have the opportunity to incorporate the skills learned in organized games and game situations throughout the week.

Camp Carlos - Weaving for the Sun
Arts and Museums
Woven images of monkeys, birds, and other creatures from the natural world form the lively patterns found in ancient Andeantextiles. Artists and weaver Paula Vester, on of the founding members of the Peachtree Handspinners Guild, will work with campers to create decorative textiles using the silky fibers of the llama and alpaca and natural dyes steeped from indigo and cochineal. Campers will practice carding, drop spinning, and finger weaving as well as knotting and loom techniques to fashion their own woven pieces. Campers will also visit the Museum’s Parsons Conservation Lab to discover more about the sophisticated weaving techniques of the ancient Americas. This session is for 10 to 12 year olds.

Choir of Clare College
Arts and Museums
Since its founding in 1971, the Choir of Clare College has gained an international reputation as one of the leading university choral groups in England. Led by its Director of Music Timothy Brown, the choir has toured widely, including in Europe, the United States, Japan, China, Russia, and the Middle East. The New York Times described the choir as demonstrating “brilliant execution” and a “distinctive sense of character.”
The program, “In Quires and Places Where They Sing,” (subject to change) features a stunning mix of classic English motets by Byrd, Howells, and Tye, as well as new works by Swayne and Holloway. Sharing the stage in the intimate Schwartz Center Dance studio, the internationally acclaimed Vega String Quartet, piano virtuoso William Ransom, and Staibdance will present an exciting evening of dance and live music. Emory faculty member and choreographer George Staib and his company Staibdance join the musicians of the Vega String Quartet for their second collaboration. In 2009 Atlanta critic Pierre Ruhe referred in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to their first effort as “magnetic, tense, euphoric.” Music by Chopin, Richard Einhorn, Schumann, Rachmaninov, and Emory's own Kendall Simpson will provide the foundation for the physicality, athleticism, and nuance that characterizes Staibdance.

Teresa Hopkin is known throughout the Southeast on the opera and concert stages. Her critically acclaimed Atlanta Opera performances have included "La Boheme's" Mimi, the title role in "The Merry Widow," the Countess in "Le Nozze di Figaro," and Liu in "Turandot."
On the concert stage, Ms. Hopkin has appeared with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with conductors Robert Shaw and William Fred Scott, as well as Orchestra Atlanta and the Columbus and LaGrange Symphonies. In addition, she has appeared with the Atlanta Opera Chorus in concert, Choral Guild of Atlanta, the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus, the Lanier Trio, the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta, members of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, and the Columbus Civic Chorale. Ms. Hopkin has premiered works by American composers James Adler, Carl Boelter, Robert Boury, Steven Everett, Richard Hundley, and John Anthony Lennon.
