MCHA is currently accepting nominations for the Fourth Annual Historic Preservation Awards scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. MCHA will present three Historic Preservation Awards to business and individual owners of historic building who have shown their dedication to preserving and enhancing Monroe County. The three categories are: private residence, non-profit organization and commercial properties. Eligible buildings must be at least 75 years old. Nomination forms must be completed and returned to MCHA by Friday, Jan. 16, 2009. Winners will be notified early in February and invited to the recognition dinner.

Nomination forms are available at the Monroe County Historical Association in Stroudsburg, or on-line.

The Pahaquarry Artist-in-Residence Program is a way of providing professional and emerging studio artists with the opportunity to concentrate on their work in a supportive environment. The feature artist will reside, for a limited time, in a cabin located in Mohican Outdoor Center, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This"gift of time" allows artists to work without distraction in an effort to break new ground.
The artist may excel in two dimensional artwork including paiting, photography or the written word.
