To help the thousands of Southern Nevada residents in need of nutritious foods this new year, Las Ventanas, Nevada’s only continuing care retirement community, is hosting a food drive for Three Square from Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 to Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009.

Valley residents can drop off non-perishable food items everyday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Las Ventanas located at 10401 W. Charleston Blvd. at the corner of Town Center Drive. All canned goods will be accepted, but the greatest need is for high-protein foods such as canned tuna, chicken and peanut butter.

Amazing Grace Ministries Needs Our Community’s Help

Amazing Grace Ministry, based in Las Vegas, is making an appeal to the public to help in their efforts to feed the homeless here in the valley.

Volunteers prepare and serve a home-cooked supper to 250 homeless each Wednesday evening and also provide worship service and continental breakfast each Sunday morning.

Volunteers distribute donations of gently used clothing. The ministry provides referral services to individuals needing employment, housing, and counseling.

The Blind Center of Nevada is a day center for the blind and visually impaired in Southern Nevada. We offer round trip transportation (15 mile radius) from your home to our center with free lunch served 3 days a week. We have a computer lab, talking books library, ceramics, music, choir, and drama classes, all at NO COST cost to the participant. We are open Monday-Thursday 9am-2pm. Our membership is open to those who are blind or have a condition that could lead to blindness, teens-seniors.
